Founded in 1923 by General John A. Lejeune and chartered by Congress in
1937 the Marine Corps League is a non-profit veteran's association that
joins Marines of all eras and ranks together. Some of the purposes as
set forth in our charter are
- To preserve the traditions and to promote the
interests of the United States Marine Corps;
- To band those who are now serving in the United
States Marine Corps and those who have been honorably discharged from
that service together in fellowship that they may effectively promote
the ideals of American freedom and democracy;
- To hold sacred the history and memory of the
men who have given their lives to the Nation;
- To aid voluntarily and to render assistance to
all Marines and former Marines as well as to their widows and orphans;
- To perpetuate the history of the United States
Marine Corps and by fitting acts to observe the anniversaries of
historical occasions of peculiar interest to Marines.
But more than this we are a group of Marines that is making a
difference. We are making a difference with our youth's physical fitness
with the United States Marines Youth Foundation; our future leaders with
the Young Marines of the Marine Corps League; our communities supporting
the Marine Reserve Toys for Tots Program; and our Marine family with the
Fallen Marine Program and many others.
We are about Honor, Courage and Commitment. When duty called, Marines
have always been the first to fight and we continue to answer the call
today. We are Marines helping Marines, Marines helping our communities
and Marines helping our Nation. WE ARE, THE MARINE CORPS LEAGUE.
With Detachments across the state there is one close to you.
Semper Fidelis.
David Z. Cates
"Some people wonder all their
lives if they've made a difference. The Marines don't have that problem.
